The International Theater Festival was held in October 1973. The three-day event took place at the Budapest Cultural Center, with eight Hungarian and eight foreign troupes performing. The Hungarian performers included the Belvárosi Literary Stage, the Csili Soós Imre Literary Stage, the Pinceszínház, the Manézs Stage, the University Stage, the Bányász Stage, and the Reflex Stage. The foreign groups included the Bulgarian SU-113 university stage, the Czechoslovakian SVIT–ZPS ensemble, the Yugoslavian DADOV theater group, the Polish AKT 69 theater, the Poetic Theater from East Germany, the Romanian Műkedvelő Népszínház, the Slovakian TEES Stage, and the Soviet Poltavai Népszínház.
