As one of Carinthia’s oldest festivals, the Spectrum Festival has been a defining event in Villach’s cultural life since 1973. Initially under the leadership of Alfred Meschnigg as an amateur festival with groups participating from all over the world, in recent years under the leadership of Katrin Ackerl Konstantin and Erik Jan Rippmann, the festival has evolved beyond an off-theatre festival into a dance, performance and workshop festival. Currently, under the artistic direction of Martin Dueller, the program has been expanded with musical contributions and public space performances.
